Mr. Rao joined the firm in 2010. Mr. Rao’s practice areas include general business litigation, consumer litigation, and automobile dealer law. Mr. Rao has experience defending against consumer class action lawsuits, employment and labor disputes, consumer finance allegations, breach of contract issues, and various statutory issues including the Consumers Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition Law, Automobile Sales Finance Act, and Truth In Lending Act. Mr. Rao’s practice also includes collection and enforcement on behalf of dealers and banks.
While in law school, Mr. Rao was a member of his schools Byrne Trial Advocacy Team, where he and his teammates earned the right to represent the Southern California Region at the National Trial Advocacy Competition held in Texas. Mr. Rao was also a member of the Juvenile Justice Clinic where he represented indigent youth in juvenile delinquency court through Loyola Law School’s Clinic for Juvenile Law and Policy. Mr. Rao also served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall, Senior Judge, United States District Court, Central District of California.
Prior to law school, Mr. Rao attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and was a member of the school’s varsity football team. When not working, Mr. Rao enjoys playing various sports, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Illustrative Litigation Matters
- Obtained substantial judgment on behalf of seller/dealer principal against buyers of dealership arising out of promissory note after buyers filed action against seller alleging various tort and contract causes of action attempting to rescind the purchase.
- Successfully obtained judgment on behalf of dealer in lawsuit filed by former customer over alleged disclosure violations under the ASFA, CLRA, and UCL.
- Obtained dismissal of multiple lawsuits against dealers alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Unruh Civil Rights Act.
